To set client-side caching for a File Share resource

  1. Open Cluster Administrator.
  2. In the console tree, click the Resources folder.
  3. In the details pane, click the appropriate File Share resource.
  4. On the File menu, click Properties.
  5. Click the Parameters tab, then click the Caching button.
  6. Select the Allow caching of files in this shared folder check box to enable client-side caching for this File Share resource.
  7. In Setting, select the appropriate client-side caching setting as shown in the table below.

    Allow caching of files in this shared folder is not enabled CSCCache is set to 48 Client-side caching is disabled for all files on the file share.
    Automatic caching of programs and documents CSCCache is set to 32 Client-side caching is disabled for those files that are only opened, but not modified.
    Automatic caching of documents CSCCache is set to 16 Changes in all files opened on the client will be reconciled between the client and the server cluster.
    Manual caching of documents CSCCache is set to 0 Changes in only those files specifically identified on the file share will be reconciled between the client and the server cluster.
